10 Things to Do in Milwaukee This Weekend: Jan. 21-23

It’s an exciting weekend in Milwaukee with Gallery Night MKE and the unveiling of a new ice skating rink.

1. Check Out Milwaukee’s Newest Ice Skating Rink

FRIDAY AT 10 A.M. | MILWAUKEE PUBLIC MARKET

The Milwaukee Public Market is unveiling the city’s newest (and smallest) ice skating rink. The new 770-square foot rink, called the Dinky Rink, is being installed this week and unveiled Friday morning with a first skate by Milwaukee Admirals mascot Roscoe.

2. Gallery Night MKE

FRIDAY AND SATURDAY | HISTORIC THIRD WARD

The Historic Third Ward is hosting a two-day art event to showcase local galleries and artists. This event is free admission and gives people the opportunity to view and purchase art while dining and shopping at all the places the Third Ward has to offer.  

3. Alien Invasion

ENDS SATURDAY | VIRTUAL EVENT

The Racine Art Museum is hosting the last day of their virtual art show on Saturday. From around the world, 59 artists have submitted 58 works relating to the idea of intrusion. While visiting the online gallery, you have the chance to vote for your favorite piece of art by selecting the star icon in the bottom left corner of the image.The last day to view art and vote is this Saturday.

4. Double Beer Release

SATURDAY | THE FERMENTORIUM

For their first release of 2022, the Fermentorium is releasing two beers at both their Cedarburg and Wauwatosa locations. Options include the Sombrilla Oscura, a dark Mexican lager, or the Peace Juice Packets IPA.  

5. I Wanna Write, Right Now

SATURDAY FROM 10 A.M.-NOON | ARTS @ LARGE COMMUNITY CENTER

Brit Nicole is leading a writing workshop while creating a safe place to express your thoughts and opinions. This workshop aims to help you get in the habit of writing and journaling. At the end you will have the opportunity to contribute to a community writing piece. 

6. Clothes Swap

SUNDAY FROM 2 P.M.-6 P.M. | GATHERING PLACE BREWING

Gathering Place Brewing is welcoming clothes donations and in return, you get to shop for new ones! Swap out the old for new and receive one free beer ticket when you make your donation.

7. The Hungry Williams

SUNDAY AT 4 P.M. | ANODYNE COFFEE ROASTING CO.

Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. is hosting a free live show by the Hungry Williams. This band plays jump blues and swinging R&B. The doors open at 3 p.m. to grab a seat. 

8. Steve-O “The Bucketlist Tour”

SUNDAY AT 7 P.M. | PABST THEATRE

This adult-only show features Jackass star and stand-up comedian Steve-O as he brings the “Bucket List Tour” to Milwaukee. The show features stunts and a multimedia comedy show.  

9. Milwaukee Boat Show

ALL WEEKEND | WISCONSIN STATE FAIR PARK

The Wisconsin State Fair Park is hosting Wisconsin’s largest boating exposition with over 300 boats on display. The exposition begins this weekend and is open through next week. 

10. Where Did We Sit on the Bus?

ALL WEEKEND | MILWAUKEE CHAMBER THEATRE

Starting this weekend, the Milwaukee chamber Theatre presents Where Did We Sit on the Bus?, created by Brian Quijada. This musical takes the audience through a journey of self-discovery as the characters learn about what it means to grow up Latinx in America. The show runs from Jan.21-Feb.13.
