Amy Fallucca’s life as an entrepreneur began in 2016 with the birth of her son. She worked for 10 years in human resources, and now with a child at home, she wanted the flexibility that comes with being your own boss. She left her job and started Bravent, an HR consulting and recruiting company. Within five years the company has expanded to a team of six and continues to grow. In 2021, Fallucca launched another business. Comfyist is a line of luxury women’s basic apparel with integrated bra cups that is now available for presale. Fallucca also runs a short-term rental business and a commercial real estate property. “Anytime you have an idea, there will be people lined up to tell you why it won’t work,” Fallucca says. “Thankfully, I’m the kind of person that’s motivated by that – I feel the strong desire to prove them wrong.”
“The most rewarding thing has been taking a chance on myself and seeing it pay off.”

Q&A
What have been some of the benefits of starting your own business?
Anytime that you have an idea, there will be people lined up to tell you why it won’t work. Thankfully I’m the kind of person that’s motivated by that – I feel the strong desire to prove them wrong. I think the most rewarding thing has been taking a chance on myself and seeing it pay off. Despite some people having doubts, it worked and it worked really well.
What advice do you have for young women interested in starting their own businesses?
There are a lot of people who will tell you not to do things or how things might go wrong, and I would just recommend that you have a positive outlook and believe in yourself. Even if you fail, you’re going to learn something and apply that to whatever you do next. There’s really no such thing as failing. Take small risks, learn from them, and find mentors and people who’ve been there who can help you.
