In a press conference on Friday, Tom Barrett, Milwaukee’s Mayor and Co-Chair of the Host Committee, announced that the convention’s Delegate Welcome Party will take place on July 12 at Summerfest’s Henry Maier Festival Park.
The party serves as an opportunity to showcase the beer-brewing, lake-loving city of Milwaukee we’ve all come to know and love on an international level. A staple of Milwaukee, the Summerfest grounds will be the delegates’ first impression of the city.
“We take great pride in what we do at Henry Maier Festival Park and we feel like it’s part of what distinguishes Milwaukee,” says Sarah Pancheri, Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. “So we hope we can demonstrate our community’s passion for hospitality, our commitment to diversity, and of course, we really love a great party in Milwaukee.”
Situated by the lake, the Summerfest grounds will allow the city to simultaneously highlight two of its biggest draws— the Summerfest grounds and Lake Michigan. Who doesn’t love a party with a view?
“I know it’s February,” says Mayor Barrett, “but shine your shoes and put on your sunblock 156 days from now, because the party will begin.”
