East Town’s Jazz in the Park celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2016 and Milwaukee Magazine is partnering with the iconic Downtown Milwaukee event for all sorts of giveaways and other goodies throughout the summer!
The headlining act for June 30 is Leroy Airmaster with Junior Brantley. Blues band Leroy Airmaster is led by Steve Cohen and has been playing around Milwaukee for decades. Junior Brantley was once a part of the band, and though he now lives in Las Vegas, he returns to Milwaukee every summer to play reunion gigs with Leroy Airmaster.
Led by Jose Valdes and his 31 years of experience as a music performer, the Chicago-based band plays a variety of Latin American-inspired music, perfect for an outdoor event like Jazz in the Park.
In addition to performing live, according to Steve Cohen’s website, “Steve taught a blues history course at the UW Milwaukee from 2005-2009. He has also taught harmonica and guitar to many private students. His Blues Central booking agency has been in operation since the early 1980’s. In his thirty-plus year career, other music related activities have included work as a disc jockey, journalist, concert promoter and LP & CD dealer.”
