Walk for Children
Wake up and walk this Saturday, May 20, with the Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver, Davante Adams. From 9 a.m. till about noon, participate in the biggest event of the year for Next Door – a Central City-based non-profit organization specializing in early childhood education. The one-mile walk, beginning at 10 a.m., features Next Door families, staff, community supporters and elected officials. Join in for the fitness, as well as festivities, including the chance for adults to win a “selfie” with Adams, a free book for each child at Kids Mobile Library and free lunch for registered participants.

Mayfest
This weekend is Mayfest round two! Before the German festivities hit the road, venture over to the second and final two-day celebration of spring, German style. The Bavarian Bierhaus hosts Mayfest, starting Friday, May 19, and 6 p.m. and running late into Saturday evening, May 20. Go with family. Go with friends. Go for the music. Go for the carnival rides. But most importantly, go for the food and beer! Friday is first come, first serve. Tickets for Saturday are sold in advance or at the door.

Milwaukee Food Truck & Craft Beer Festival
There’s a lot more than just beer at this weekend’s festival, however, beer is always a bonus. Pair your choice craft beer with a food truck delight. Try truck tacos, oozing sandwich melts, deep fried sweets and so much more. Visit the festival on Saturday, May 20, between 12 and 6 p.m., or buy yourself a V.I.P. ticket (granting early entry, unlimited bottled water and a free dessert).

Jimmy Eat World at the Rave 
Jimmy Eat World is at the Rave this Friday, May 19, with special feature Beach Slang. Starting at 8 p.m., Jimmy and the band return to Milwaukee for another night of rock. Sing along with fan favorites like “The Middle” and “Sure and Certain.” Tickets are currently on sale for $26 – $32.

Sweeney Todd’
It’s opening night for Sweeney Todd at the Skylight Music Theater. Starting this weekend, watch barber Sweeney find bloody revenge after losing his whole life to an unscrupulous judge. The eight-time Tony Award-winning musical features this Friday, May 19 till mid-June. Show times include 7:30 p.m. on Friday May 19, and Saturday, May 20, as well as 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 21.

WMSE Presents: Art & Music 
Live art, live music and a live auction come to the Historic Pritzlaff. WMSE presents Art & Music this Friday evening, May 19, from 6 to 10 p.m. Station General Manager at WSME, Tom Crawford, recognizes that “art and music have always gone hand in hand,” so why not celebrate it? With more than 200 talented artists, this fundraiser event is sure to show you something new. Add to the art, music curated by VoodooHoney Records, break dancing and food/drink for a perfect evening of culture.

Yoga on Tap
Whether you’re an avid yoga warrior or simply a novice, stretch and strengthen your muscles at Third Space Brewing this weekend. On Sunday, May 21, Yoga on Tap returns to Third Space for another hour-long energizing, yet relaxing class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. After teachers Tonieh Welland & Matt Reynell are through, sip on a refreshing pint on your choice craft beer in Third Space Brewing’s tap room. Tickets are $20 and include one beer.

Ek-Spastic 2
Thirty pieces of art, presented by thirty different artists will feature at Ek-Spastic 2’s 30x30x30 Exhibition this Saturday, May 20 from 12 to 2 p.m. At Var Gallery & Studios, experience the inspiration that flows from one piece of art to another. Through ekphrasis, learn and hear from artists of 30x30x30 on the “process of being inspired.”
