La Périchole!

The arts are continually celebrated at UW-Milwaukee’s Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts. This weekend is no different as UWM Opera Theatre and Symphony Orchestra present Offenbach’s comedy La Périchole! This production will keeps the crowd laughing with memorable music and an early 1990’s Los Angeles setting. Shows run April 7 through April 8.

Martini Maddness @ Blackfinn Ameripub

Shaken or stirred? Olive or lemon peel? However you prefer your martini, treat your taste buds this Friday, April 7, starting at 9 p.m. at Blackfinn for a martini tasting you won’t forget. Tickets are $25 and include entry and wristband, eight drink tickets for exclusive martini samples, two vouchers for late night appetizers for dessert and one entry for raffle prizes.

WHIPS Album Release @ Cactus Club

Ranking one of the top live music venues in the Midwest, The Cactus Club has featured bands like Death Cab for Cutie, Bright Eyes and The White Stripes. The club welcomes WHIPS for ‘THE RIDE’ album release along with Surgeons In Heat + Slow Walker this Friday, April 7, starting at 9 p.m.

Milwaukee Public Library “MKE Big Read”

With a focus on the novel In the Time of Butterflies by Julia Alvarez, the Milwaukee Public Library begins a two-month-long program this Saturday, April 8, to encourage connection through reading within the City of Milwaukee. The kickoff event will begin at 11 a.m. at Central Library and will include readings from the book, Caribbean dances and craft activities.

Head Shaving at Marquette University

Shave your head; help save a life. This Saturday, April 8, join the St. Baldrick’s Foundation at Marquette University as they host their signature head-shaving event to raise funds and awareness for children’s cancer research. The event begins at 12 p.m., with head shaving commencing around 1 p.m. at the Evans Scholar House. 

Three Cellars Beer & Wine Tasting

Michigan beers are the subject of the weekly free tasting at both Three Cellars locations in Milwaukee (7228 S. 27th St. and N72 W13400 Lund Lane, Menomonee Falls). From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, sip the flavors our neighbors to the east.

Mini Tap Takeover of Lake Louie Brewing

Ray’s Growler gallery hosts the mini tap takeover of Lake Louie Brewing at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 8. Try a few brews from owner Tom Porter, one of the true characters of the Wisconsin brewing scene.

Music @ Linneman’s Riverwest Inn

Rock & Roll Remote Controller premieres season two, episode three this Saturday, April 8, at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn. Also featured, Lutheran Heat and Iron Pizza, as well as the Craig Brown Band LP Release Show. Tickets are $8.

Midwest Gaming Classic

Is gaming a passion of yours? Do arcade halls, adults dressed like video game characters and live music peak your interests? This weekend’s Midwest Gaming Classic is the perfect combination of retro and modern games, including home video game consoles, pinball machines, table top gaming and collectible cards.
