Apocalypse Drive-In Movie Showings Canceled

Here’s an idea we can get behind.

UPDATE: This event has been canceled. Following are the details from event organizers.

Hi, all! After hearing back from the City of Milwaukee for guidance on this event and the most recent order, we have decided to cancel this series for now. Bounce is still open for curbside carryout and delivery, and if you mention the code “APOCALYPSE” when you call us (at 414-312-4357), we’ll include a free order of freshly-baked cookies (for delivery or carryout) or two bottles of beer (for carryout) with your next order. Thanks for understanding, Milwaukee, and we’ll see you for some fun on the other side of this.”

In what seems to be apocalyptic times, Bounce Milwaukee and Milwaukee Record are hosting an “Apocalypse Drive-In” every Friday and Saturday.

Looking for a family movie? Arrive at 7 p.m. Looking for an adult movie? Arrive around 9 p.m.

There are a few rules though, of course:

  • No leaving your car. That includes to go to the bathroom. All business needs to be taken care of before arriving.
  • Cashless transactions only. A full menu of food and drink is available, but as most transactions are at the moment, leave the cash (and germs) at home.
  • Stay 6 feet away from the other cars. Social distancing, people. Need we say more?

So really, all you need is a car with a radio and you’re set. They’ll announce the frequency to turn to when you arrive. Parking is deemed as limited, so early arrival is essential.

Have a movie suggestion? Feel free to suggest them. As long as they surround the themes of community, isolation and perseverance.
