The Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday unveiled “This One’s on Me,” a player-led effort to show the club’s gratitude to its fans while supporting area small businesses.
Thirteen players have selected their favorite restaurants and watering holes where Brewers fans typically gather. Those players will surprise customers by covering the tab for the night. One restaurant will be selected for each of the 13 remaining Friday away games this season. Beginning at 5 p.m. on each of those evenings, customers will see their bill covered by a favorite Brewers player.
The identity of each establishment will remain a surprise until that evening, and no public announcement will be made in advance. The player picking up the tab will be announced in advance, however.

“This One’s on Me” starts this Friday with star outfielder Christian Yelich covering the tab.
“This week it’s on me, Brewers fans,” Yelich said in a statement. “It’s just a small way of showing appreciation for the all the great support over the years. Enjoy!”
Lorenzo Cain and newcomer Andrew McCutchen will be among the other Brewers players who will be covering fans’ tabs at establishments across the five-country metro area.
Future dates for the program are: May 6, May 13, May 27, June 10, June 17, July 1, July 15, July 29, Aug. 12, Aug. 19, Sept. 2 and Sept. 23.
The initiative comes on the heels of the first-ever “Brewers Eve Bash,” when Cy Young Award-winning hurler Corbin Burnes surprised fans and footed the tab for everyone at Leff’s Lucky Town in Wauwatosa while he took the mound for last week’s game against the Orioles in Baltimore the night before the home opener.
The Brewers are also rolling out additional initiatives to thank fans.
For “Ticket Tuesday,” the Brew Crew, Bernie Brewer and the Famous Racing Sausages will tour around the city of Milwaukee and five surrounding counties to surprise Brewers fans with free tickets. Each week, 1,000 ticket vouchers will be distributed for the following Tuesday home game at American Family Field.
And the “Fans First” is returning for the 2022 season. At every home game, Brewers and UW Credit Union staff will walk around American Family Field surprising fans with ticket upgrades, concession vouchers and autographed baseballs.
