When Jodi Lurie opened Talking Walls in Brown Deer, she set out to make wallpaper feel less like a gamble and more like a finished thought. Today her showroom has the largest wallcovering selection in metro Milwaukee, backed by a team that treats every pattern decision like a discipline of its own. The collection at Talking Walls runs deep: established names alongside small, hard-to-find artisan collections, in finishes and colorways many local shoppers never knew existed. The range is broad, but the guidance is what sets the showroom apart.

“Our process is built around how you actually live,” Jodi says. “If you have young kids or a dog and you are eyeing a silk or linen paper, we’ll steer you somewhere studier. Most people walk in certain of what they want and leave with something that suits their home far better.”

Every client takes home up to five samples at no cost, as it is always better to judge a paper against your own lighting. Both Jodi and Michele Flemma, Talking Walls’ creative director, encourage experimentation: layering more than one pattern in a room, or mixing colors until a space feels entirely their own. “Choosing wallpaper,” Michele notes, “is an education as much as a purchase. The measure of a good selection is simple. The client has to love it once it is up.”
