The Lambeau Look

Are you ready for some fashion? Because Green Bay Packers wide receiver James Jones has it in spades. Fall’s menswear pieces encourage playful mixing and matching, from gritty leather work boots that are both rugged and functional to a sturdy wool bolero and color-block sweaters. With a backdrop as pristine as Mitchell Park’s Journey House Packers Field, Jones illustrates that scoring any one of these local finds would be, yes, quite the catch. Photos by Adam Ryan Morris.

Work It

Whether it’s a pretzel-like pose peppered with “om” or a long lakefront run, Linda Kessler, owner of Transformation Room, knows what to wear to maximize your fitness routine. One of her must-haves: fitted cropped pants. “They’re a great way to work out with confidence, without fear of a wardrobe malfunction,” she says. Kessler (left) demonstrates this with style – and perfect form. Wild Flower

La Gazette du Bon Ton was a French fashion magazine that introduced its first issue in 1912 with these words: “The clothing of a woman is a pleasure for the eye that cannot be judged inferior to the other arts.” Agreed. And that’s precisely why these spring fashions marry so well with this slightly psychedelic print by Reginald Baylor, one of Milwaukee’s great contemporary artists. His floral design (with Rubik’s Cubes, jagged branches, basketballs and watermelons) is the perfect backdrop for a little edge that goes a long way – the powder-white wrap dress takes on a whole new attitude…

Love Letters

Styled by Lizzy Lovas Photos by Adam Ryan Morris There’s an art to writing letters. An art that certainly isn’t lost. For notes of gratitude, romantic replies and simple hellos, the paper on which carefully chosen words are crafted can, too, speak volumes. This quirky selection of locally designed stationery might just inspire even the most tech-savvy texters to pick up a pen. 1. Linked In

Styled by Lizzy Lovas Whether you want to shine in the boardroom or dazzle at a cocktail party, a pair of finely crafted cuff links can add the right amount of masculine sparkle. Popularized in the 1600s by England’s King Charles II, the wrist candy can be donned – or gifted – for just about any occasion. Lucky for Milwaukeeans, locally made ’links abound. Perhaps a glossy bronze bullet for the hunting aficionado, or a pair made from the glittering innards of a watch for the traveling businessman? To be sure, no other menswear accessory says professional and put-together like…

Lip Service

Lips haven’t been this bright since the ’80s, but the pros are wholeheartedly embracing the return of these totally rad pigments. Whether it’s vibrant cherry red or deep velvety purple, statement lips are back with endless options. Now it’s time for us novices to experiment, guided by six of Milwaukee’s finest makeup artists, all sharing their favorite shades for the season. The best part? From “perfect for the holidays” (Portofino Red) to “the go-to winter wedding color” (Black Currant), these blazing bold sticks work for any occasion.  1. Rare Orchid by Aveda, $16. – Elyse Cizek, Neroli Salon and Spa 2.…

Cloak of Color

The most important winter wardrobe staple needn’t be dull. Sure, coats in black, gray and navy blue offer versatility, but a striking bold coat can have just as much staying power. Whether it’s sunset-hued marigold or playfully regal purple, a bright coat can breathe new life into those neutral closet workhorses, even transforming your favorite LBD – like this Theory number with a leather bodice – from somber to statement-making. So embrace the color. You’ll be sure to stand out against winter’s monochromatic palette.

Watch It

Rose gold, diamonds, studded leather straps, mother of pearl chronograph faces, sleek white and even numberless – today’s wristwatches, though still practical, have navigated their way to wardrobe accessory staple. Change yours daily to match an outfit or wear it like a tattoo – a permanent statement of personal style. Like any worthwhile fashion necessity, the look (and price) options are limitless.
