A Sneak Peek at the Craziest New Foods Coming to the State Fair

Some of these we’ll definitely have to taste test before we put out a verdict.

There are over 800 food and drink choices at the Wisconsin State Fair, including more than 65 bold new options this year. Here are a few of the new arrivals that caught our attention. 

Blazin’ Jalapeno Deep Fried Olives

These award-winning olives are filled with cream cheese and jalapeños, skewered, deep-fried and served with ranch and hot sauce. They are offered at Fried Fruit and Fried Olives.


Brat-tot-chos

This twist on traditional nachos consists of Tater Tots and chopped brats covered in beer cheese, mustard, sauerkraut and onions. This savory snack will be served at Blue Moon Tavern at the Park.


Brownie Waffle Stick

Satisfy your sweet tooth with this mouth-watering blend of a sugary breakfast food and dessert, courtesy of Waffle Chix. This double chocolate brownie is baked inside a Belgian waffle, topped with powdered sugar and chocolate syrup. It’s served on a stick, of course! 


Apple Crunch Cheesecake Quesadilla

Speaking of breakfast combos, this quesadilla provides the flavor of apple pie with the crunch of a classic breakfast cereal. With apple pie filling, cream cheese filling, caramel sauce and cinnamon toast crunch cereal, this sugary take on a quesadilla can be found at Mexican Grill.


Buffalo Cheese Curd and Chicken Taco

Do you prefer your cheese curds with marinara, with ranch or stuffed in a taco? Find out at Poncho Dog, where they will serve buffalo cheese curd tacos for the first time. 


Bug Tacos

Yep, you read that right. Bugs. This year’s bravest attendees can find these new cricket-and-worm delicacies at the Exotic Meat Grill. If you’re bold enough to give them a try, they’re a good source of protein!


Chocolate Covered Bacon Berry Kabobs

What food combo can’t be improved by a little bacon? For instance, Caribbean Smoothees is now serving chocolate-covered strawberries sprinkled in bacon bits.


Deep Fried Banana Bread Bites

The State Fair is perfect license to deep fry any food you can think of, and these banana bread bites are the perfect candidate: crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They’ll be served at Leadfoots Bar & Grill.

Why face your fears when you can eat them instead? Head over to Exotic Meat Grill for a taste of their new rattlesnake soup. 


Deep Fried Milk with Cookie Dip

Dipping cookies in milk is so last year! Turn the tables on this classic snack at this year’s fair by dipping your milk into your cookies instead. These fried milk pudding cubes and Oreo dip are served at Slim’s Lakefront Brew Pub and Eatery


Grasshopper Slushie On-a-Stick

Continuing the critter trend, these otherwise unassuming fruit popsicles are full of grasshoppers. These pops are made with pineapple, kiwi and orange juice and will be served at All Things Jerky.
