When you hear “treehouse,” you might picture a rickety one-room shack, nestled in branches. Well, Kalahari’s new take on treehouses makes that image laughable.
Kalahari Treehouse Adventures, which open on May 15, are large, luxurious rentals masterfully built into the beautiful trees that line Lake Delton. For years, the popular Wisconsin Dells waterpark and resort had one patch of land that remained unused. It wasn’t until Travis Nelson, Kalahari president, took a spring break trip to a treehouse resort in Tennessee with his family that inspiration struck.
Nelson and the Kalahari team enlisted the (unrelated) Nelson Treehouse builder. You may know the company from the show “Treehouse Masters” on Animal Planet. At Kalahari, the team built 12 treehouse rentals of different size and scale.
“People are very excited,” Nelson says. “I know when folks step inside these amazing treehouses for the first time, they’re going to be blown away.”

Each treehouse has a wraparound porch to maximize the elevated view of Lake Delton. Amenities include outdoor firepits and private beach access as well as, of course, passes to Kalahari’s indoor waterpark.
“Every treehouse is different in its shape and has a few unique features,” Nelson says. “Some are lower to the ground, and there’s one that’s 20 feet in the air.”
The smaller treehouses include two queen beds and a full bed with a trundle or a pull-out sofa sleeper. The largest unit, called the Grand Point, can sleep up to 10 guests.

“You’re up in the trees, you’re among nature,” Nelson says. “The sunrises and the sunsets are incredible. To put it simply, it’s just one of those really beautiful, unique settings where you can really get away.”
Along with the treehouses, a new supper club is coming to the property. Daylene’s will bring classic Wisconsin hospitality, comfort food and craft cocktails. A walking path will connect the treehouses with Daylene’s for easy access.
“This property is going to be so much fun,” Nelson says. “I can’t wait for guests to experience it.”
