You’d think Northwestern Mutual would be busy enough as one of the world’s largest life insurance companies, but it also has a long history of erecting apartment buildings across the country. In addition to the office tower under construction on Wisconsin Avenue, The Quiet Company, so named because of a muted ad campaign from the 1980s, has been rather noisily at work on a 34-story mixed-use tower at 777 N. Van Buren St., which will “offer the highest level amenities and finishes in the market,” according to Vice President Tom Zale. These will include 14 penthouse units, a rooftop pool, an indoor golf simulator, a large fitness center and whatever establishments move into the ground floor. This fall, work is beginning on the foundation, with the goal of having the completed building occupied by spring 2018.
