Prepare to be entranced by angelic voices and to devour an elegant dinner at the Milwaukee Children’s Choir’s annual gala next Thursday, May 4, at the Wisconsin Club. Cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed at 7:00 p.m. by dinner and a concert from Milwaukee’s vocally-gifted youth. All ticket proceeds, as well as the profit made from the silent auction, will support Milwaukee Children’s Choir’s existing programs and allow them to expand upon new ones.
“Given that funding is being taken away from arts education, it’s more important now than ever to support children benefiting from it,” said Darcie Warren, executive director of the Milwaukee Children’s Choir. “Our main goal is to get as many Milwaukee children access to quality arts education as possible.”
Money raised at the gala goes directly into achieving this goal, as it contributes to scholarships given to children who couldn’t otherwise afford to be in choir. In addition, the Children’s Choir serves 1,000 students ages 5-18 each week through their various choirs, clinics and workshops, and their “Harmony Program,” a music education program held at different Milwaukee Public Schools.
If you want to support their cause and get a fancy dinner in the process, tickets to the gala are still available and will likely be sold at the door.
