Holey Moley Permanently Closes Its Third Ward Doughnut Shop

We will miss the coffee and doughnuts from this locally-owned business.

Holey Moley, the popular coffee and doughnut shop, is permanently closing its only location in the Third Ward.

Milwaukee’s first-ever craft doughnut shop is owned by Hospitality Democracy, which also runs AJ Bombers, Blue Bat Kitchen, Onesto and Smoke Shack. A note on Holey Moley’s website says that the group is concentrating on the full-service restaurants as well as some “exciting expansion projects” around the corner. The owners hope to to reopen Holey Moley again some day “when the time is right.”

It’s time to pick your Milwaukee favorites for the year!

Here’s the full note from the website:

HOLEY MOLEY IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED.

Hospitality Democracy has made the difficult decision to close our Holey Moley storefront at 316 N Milwaukee St. We opened in 2014 as Milwaukee’s only craft doughnut shop and it’s been a really incredible journey in that location. We’re passionate about the Holey Moley brand and we certainly aren’t ready to say goodbye forever. When the time is right, we’ll find a new home for the concept. Right now, we’re focusing on our full-service restaurants, the busy summer ahead, and some exciting expansion projects that are in the works.

Here’s to hoping Hospitality Democracy finds a new home for Holey Moley’s unique doughnut offerings soon.

In the meantime, Shorewood’s Donut Monster and Brute Pizza will be sharing Holey Moley’s old space at 316 N. Milwaukee St., according to an article by the Journal Sentinel. There will be coffee and breakfast sandwiches in the morning, and pizza for lunch and dinner.
