Hip-Hop Week runs August 19-25.

It’s Hip-Hop Week MKE, and the city is holding dozens of events to prove it.

The celebration started Monday and runs through Sunday. Throughout the week, Milwaukee will have seminars, performances, awards ceremonies, parties and even job and health fairs.

A handful of local leaders will participate in the events, including Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes who is hosting a talk called Hip-Hop goes to the Polls with Brad “Scarface” Jordan.

Hip-Hop Week MKE is “dedicated to celebrating a blend of old and new school hip-hop culture,” according to Alderman Khalif J. Rainey. He also said this is a one-of-a-kind celebration of hip-hop art, music, culture and education.

This is Milwaukee’s second year hosting Hip-Hop Week MKE. The 2019 lineup includes Megan the Stallion, Kevin Gates, Scarface, Mystikal, Bun B, Devin the Dude, Do or Die and more.
