Goodwill Hunting

Goodwill Hunting

A Milwaukee millennial is elevating shopping-for-a-cause by offering ultra-sleek swag.

1215_LSTN_Ebony-Troubadour-HeroDrew Griswold, 26, interned for Serve Marketing, the pro-bono advertising firm that creates ads to raise awareness about societal ills, such as teen pregnancy and shaken-baby syndrome. He eventually took a job for PR firm Buzz Monkeys, but used his Serve Marketing time as inspiration for a “social cause” retail website, which he launched in September 2014.

Wander & Co. (wanderand.co) hawks style-forward home decor and accessories, like these LSTN (pronounced listen) headphones, which are made with reclaimed wood and enable the Minnesota-based Starkey Hearing Foundation to help people with auditory problems. (According to LSTN’s website, donations are only measured in terms of people it has helped through the Starkey Foundation. The number? “Over 20,000.”)

Griswold also sells candles and jewelry that he makes himself and then donates 15-20 percent of the prices to various causes, including anti-human trafficking efforts and cervical cancer screenings – efforts Griswold hopes tug at your altruistic and materialistic heart.

“Goodwill Hunting” appears in the December 2015 issue of Milwaukee Magazine.
