We're Fans of Cedarburg's First Distillery

A little about this charming distillery in Cedarburg

Handen, German for hands, is also the name of Cedarburg’s first distillery that opened in November 2018.

Co-owners Lisa Tank and Mary-Kay Bourbulas first met working together at an investment firm in Chicago. They now both reside Cedarburg, where Mary-Kay’s husband works in historic preservation and restoration. He found the location, and other people had the idea for a distillery in Cedarburg, but it was Mary-Kay and Lisa who brought Handen Distillery to fruition.

Together with head distiller John Lavelle, Mary-Kay and Lisa are fastidious about the taste of their handcrafted product. The Tank Line Original Gin is the one of their most surprising and popular spirits, luring in even the most skeptical gin drinkers. Citrus and floral notes dominate the flavor profile, with just a hint of juniper.

The full catalogue of Handen spirits is currently only available at the distillery, but should be ready for distribution in 2020. For now, visit the distillery on Washington Avenue and taste before you buy. Tours are also coming soon.
