Just over a year and a half ago, the space that now houses Talking Walls was an empty auto body shop in Brown Deer. Today, it’s the Milwaukee area’s most inspiring wallpaper showroom, open to the public, buzzing with creativity and transforming how people experience wallpaper.

At the helm is owner and wallpaper enthusiast Jodi Lurie, who’s not just curating beautiful walls but building a space where style, storytelling and connection come together.

Stepping into Talking Walls feels less like entering a store and more like arriving at a boutique design lounge where inspiration lives on every surface. With thousands of wallpaper samples in every style and color imaginable, the showroom helps both designers and homeowners find the perfect match for their space, aesthetic and budget.

The experience is intentionally approachable and fun, blending high-end aesthetics with laid-back vibes. Clients are encouraged to take their time, flip through books, touch samples, ask questions and get inspired. Whether you’re a design novice or a seasoned pro sourcing for a luxury project, Talking Walls makes the process exciting, not overwhelming.

While samples line the drawers and tables, wallpaper is also showcased in immersive, unexpected ways, most notably through mini showrooms created in partnership with local designers. Each space is thoughtfully styled and anchored by wallpaper that brings the entire vision to life.

“It was really important to me that Talking Walls supports local designers,” says Lurie. “Our mini showrooms have been such a fun way to celebrate their creativity, and to better understand their aesthetic. That insight helps us tremendously when sourcing wallpaper for their client projects.”

But Talking Walls isn’t just about papering your space, it’s about telling your story. “We believe every wall deserves a voice,” Lurie says. “Your walls should reflect who you are, how you live and what you love.”

At Talking Walls, wallpaper isn’t a finishing touch, it’s the beginning of the story. With maximalism and personality-packed interiors on the rise, the showroom has become a destination for those craving something bold, fresh and entirely their own. “There’s always that one magical moment when someone lands on the one,” Lurie says. “You just know. And they do, too.”
