Face of Timeless Fashion

Amy Basile, founder and designer of Scout Couture, spent over two decades working in the fashion industry before making her first design four years ago. Each morning when she got dressed, she noticed a consistent issue in her closet – she was buying the same basics over and over again.

“I was so frustrated that my shirts would fade, get holes or stretch out. I wanted something I could pick up again and again for years,” Basile says. “That’s how my black V-neck shirt came to life.”

Basile collaborated with fashion illustrators in Los Angeles and spent months meticulously going over design, fabric, fit and more before landing on The First V-Neck Tee, her flagship design. That shirt, along with an entire line of high-quality fashionable “closet basics” meant to last, is now available at scoutcouture.com and at pop-up events.

Scout Couture specializes in key pieces that can be worn across demographics, seasons and styles. “I like to think of pieces that are timeless,” says Basile. “They should live in your closet for the rest of your life. They should be the pieces you can grab-and-go no matter what. You can dress it up. You can dress it down. Wear it to work during the day, take it out at night.”

In addition to Basile’s own designs, the website also features Scouts Curation, a shop where limited items are handpicked to help customers tell their own story. At Scout Couture, every piece is chosen to empower women, giving them the freedom to focus on their lives – because their wardrobe is already covered. For Scouts Collaboration, Basile created a sweater collection with East Coast designer Ellsworth & Ivey.

As a slow fashion business focusing on quality and longevity, Scout Couture is creating sustainable solutions for the fashion industry.

“So much of the fashion today is you wear it, you wash it, it gets worn down, and pretty soon you get rid of it and buy something else,” says Basile. “From a sustainability standpoint, we’re creating products that will truly last. You should be able to ball it up, beat it up and then wear it just as well as you did the other day.”
