Closets by Design  

Milwaukee’s Closets by Design is a leader in custom storage solutions, serving customers throughout Southeastern Wisconsin. Launched in 2019 by Doug and Cindy Gauert, the company has garnered a reputation for customer service that is woven into every step, from the first inquiry to consultation, design and installation. 

Closet by Designs’ offerings span a wide range of custom storage solutions including walk-in closets, home offices, garages, pantries, laundry rooms and more. The personalized solutions, like pull-out hampers, stow-away ironing boards, jewelry trays and lighting, integrate functionality into the design.

At the heart of their success is a unique approach: bringing the design process directly into the client’s home. Designers come to the consultation equipped with the tools needed to create a space that fulfills the homeowner’s wish list and honors their budget.

“We meet with the homeowner, go through their vision, design it on-site and price it out right then and there,” says Doug, owner and president of Closets by Design. “It saves a lot of time and helps the clients immediately visualize the new space. We make adjustments and changes right on the spot.”

All the furnishings and decor are produced in-shop by the Closets by Design team and installed by employees, not subcontractors. The installation team provides a personal touch to every project that sets them apart from the competition.

Closets by Design started with just the Gauert family and now boasts a team of nearly 50. “Customer service is a very, very high focus for us,” says Doug. “From the time that the homeowner calls in to our office, we’re working to give them the best experience possible.”
