Zuern Building Products and Design Center

Last fall, Zuern Building Products & Design Center – a family-owned building and design company started in 1953 – grew its footprint. It acquired Wood Specialties Inc., a well-established and respected local company focused on custom cabinets, stairs, doors and trim. Wood Specialties’ expert designers and skilled cabinet makers are now a part of the Zuern team, as is Wood Specialties’ Menomonee Falls showroom. 

“It’s been really smooth working for Zuern and having the opportunity to grow,” says Michelle Priewe, a cabinet designer who came over from Wood Specialties. “We’re now able to expand our customer base for custom cabinetry and millwork.” 

With its new addition, Zuern now offers a wider range of millwork and custom cabinetry services to customers across Southeastern Wisconsin. Wood Specialties’ products have been added to Zuern’s already expansive cabinetry portfolio, including lines from Showplace Cabinetry and Countryside Cabinets. 

Zuern’s custom cabinetry solutions are built to fit the exact dimensions of a space, working through small nooks, difficult angles or expansive, open layouts. With every inch considered, clever storage solutions like vertical tray storage, built-in dividers, built-in spice and cooking oil racks, vanity hair tool organizers or unique blind-corner storage can be easily incorporated into the design. Then, the fun design decisions follow, including wood type, finish, door style and color options.  

“Customers can come to us with their inspiration, and it’s part of our job to bring those dreams to life,” says Priewe. “We work to meet their functionality, style and budget needs, while providing custom cabinetry solutions that work for their lifestyle and their space.”
