Blues Artist Cedric Burnside is Coming to Shank Hall

Shank Hall has recently announced that blues guitarist and drummer Cedric Burnside will be performing on Wednesday, November 28, at 8 p.m.

Burnside has blues in his blood. His father is blues drummer Calvin Jackson and his grandfather is blues singer R.L. Burnside. Burnside began touring with his grandfather, playing the drums in “Big Daddy” at age 13. Since then Burnside has gone on to win Blues Music Awards Drummer of the Year four times for his highly rhythmic style.

Burnside has played and recorded with musicians such as: Junior Kimbrough, Kenny Brown, North Mississisippi All Stars, Burnside Exploration, Widespread Panic, Jimmy Buffett, T Model Ford, Bobby Rush, Honey Boy Edwards, Hubert Sumlin, Galactic, Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion.

Burnside’s album, Descendants of Hill Country, was nominated for the 2015 Grammy for Best Blues Album of the Year.
