With the tagline of “You can’t handle the tooth” and with the image of its star, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, in a pink tutu, moviegoers should know they are in for a cheesy, squeaky clean – not to mention lame – family film. After squashing the dreams of a little kid, tough-guy hockey player Derek Thompson (Johnson) is sentenced to work one week as a tutu-wearing, magic wand-carrying tooth fairy. While Johnson gives an animated performance and British comedian Stephen Merchant (Extras) is amusing as a fairy caseworker, Tooth Fairy – with its few and far from funny jokes – is best for only those who have recently lost a tooth and received money from the titular visitor.
