“…action-packed and thought-provoking.” Matt Pais, Metromix.com
“A futuristic vomitorium of bosoms and bullets.” Jeannette Catsoulis, The New York Times
The visionary directors behind the Crank series take an interesting, fun premise of making video games come alive, but the unoriginal story and bland visual effects turn Gamer into just another brainless and numbingly action-packed frenzy. 300’s Butler plays death row inmate, Kable, a popular avatar who’s controlled by a teenage gamer and forced to fight in a ruthless game called “Slayers.” Despite a big-name cast, the menacing Hall who plays the Internet billionaire controlling the game is the only one who looks like he’s having any fun, and Butler’s acting is as stiff as a plastic action figure.
