gA marvelous and touching yuletide toy of a movie.h Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

gcsad excuse for family entertainmentch Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal

For being visually stunning thanks to the performance-capture animation, this retelling of Charles Dickensf classic tale (offered in 3D) is disappointingly bland „Ÿ and surprisingly gruesome for a Disney movie. Carrey plays the notorious curmudgeon Ebenezer Scrooge who is haunted on one fateful and frightful Christmas Eve by Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Yet to Come (also played by Carrey). For such a wildly eccentric actor playing all these significant roles, however, his performances arenft vivacious. Furthermore, the screenplay doesnft offer anything different than Dickensf novel, and instead key moments in Scroogefs life lack depth because Carol is more focused on showing off its beautiful, but ultimately, overrated animation techniques.
