5 Things to Do in Milwaukee This Weekend: April 23-25

John McGivern, a luxury wedding show and more this weekend in Milwaukee.

1. Black Puppy Day UHBC fundraiser for the Wisconsin Humane Society

ALL WEEKEND | 1024 S. 5TH ST.

Urban Harvest Brewing is donating $1 from every Black Puppy Pale Ale sold over the weekend to the Wisconsin Humane Society. As a bonus, they are also donating a portion of the proceeds from sales of Black Puppy merchandise.

2. Up Close (But Not Too Close) with John McGivern

MULTIPLE SHOWTIMES | 144 E. WELLS ST.

TV personality John McGivern (the host of the former PBS program “Around the Corner” and upcoming series “Main Streets”) is bringing back his one-man show at the historic Pabst Theater. The show kicks off Friday and will run into mid-May. Audience members will be asked to wear masks and practice social distancing.

3. 33rd Annual Blessing of the Bock

SUNDAY FROM NOON-4 P.M. | 801 E. CLARKE ST.

This odd Milwaukee tradition is brought to you by Lakefornt Brewery’s Jim Klisch and his alter ego “Brother James.” Each year, a number of area breweries bring their best bocks and this year it’s taking place at Falcon Bowl. There will also be a John Harrison Memorial homebrew competition, in honor of Delafield brewmaster who recently passed away.

4. St. James 1868 Luxury Wedding Show

SUNDAY FROM 1-4 P.M. | 833 W. WISCONSIN AVE.

This new wedding venue is a beauty, and you can check out the newly renovated space in person this weekend. The venue is hosting a luxury wedding show. The price is per couple (aw), and $125 will get the two of you an afternoon of decadent drinks and hors d’oeuvres as well as the opportunity to meet with some of this city’s best wedding vendors. Plus, there’s a fashion show.

5. Dino Safari at Wisconsin State Fair Park

ALL WEEKEND | 640 S. 84TH ST., WEST ALLIS

Dinosaurs are invading the Wisconsin State Fair Park. Dino lovers will get to hop in their car and pretend they’re on a safari. The event has a fun story to follow for children and lots of educational tid-bits sprinkled along the way. P.S. We’re told the event is especially stellar at night.
