4 New Things Coming to the Milwaukee Area This December

A theater, comedy special, novel and more.

1. ‘Neighborly’ Comedy Special by Charlie Berens

Filmed live in Appleton, the second comedy special from professional Wisconsinite Charlie Berens arrived Dec. 1. Jokes about Midwestern cheapness and beer in church fit squarely in his repertoire, you betcha. Find it on YouTube.

2. To Hell & Back

This vintage clothing and sew shop has moved out of Var Gallery’s basement into Var’s former Small Works space in Walker’s Point (700 S. Fifth St.). After freshly painting the façade, the owners promise the same stylish selections of button-ups, jeans, jackets, hats, jewelry and more.

3. The Argo

The former Fox Bay Theater in Whitefish Bay has been transformed into a 700- capacity entertainment venue (334 E. Silver Spring Dr.), outfitted with a kitchen and bar, and a ballroom bookable for private events. The space is set to open this month with its first slate of shows.

4. Everything We Could Do

When Brooke prematurely gives birth to quadruplets, she bonds with a nurse over the hidden, formidable realities of a rural Wisconsin NICU. The novel is out now, and Madison author David McGlynn will speak at Boswell Book Co. on Dec. 3.
