➞ Look up, look down and seek out the alleys of Mitchell Street. Thanks to a successful inaugural event, video artists will address a two-block stretch of this street with projections, screens and walk-through installations during one of the best “place-making” events of the year. It lasts only one night. Don’t miss it. Temporary Resurfacing, June 18, temporaryresurfacing.org.
➞ More than 100 objects coalesce into a collection of dreams that will occupy a full-scale facsimile of a slave cabin on the Lynden Sculpture Garden grounds. Chicago artist Fo Wilson is known for her installations that shift the context of historic narratives. Eliza’s Peculiar Cabinet of Curiosities, June 26-Oct. 30, lyndensculpturegarden.org.
➞ There’s an art to brewing beer, and long before the “Mad Men” days there was an art to selling it. The Museum of Wisconsin Art will tap into local history with historic beer advertising and memorabilia. It’s safe to say Miller, Schlitz and Pabst’s approach to marketing had a glamorous edge compared with today’s “bottoms up” mentality. Art on Tap, July 9-Sept. 24, wisconsinart.org.
➞ Treasures discovered aren’t always in hiding. The Milwaukee Art Museum has scoured the state to uncover Old Masters paintings and drawings tucked away in private collections. They’re putting more than 50 on display, which will mark the first time many of them have ever been available to the public. From
Rembrandt to Parmigianino: Old masters from private collections, July 29-Oct., 23, mam.org.
