12 Things to Do in Milwaukee for International Women’s Day

Celebrate with a tour celebrating women artists, a woman-focused wellness event, a seafood soiree and more.

FRIDAY, MARCH 7 FROM 5-8:30 P.M. | WISCONSIN ATHLETIC CLUB, WAUWATOSA

This women-focused wellness event features a customizable experience, with your choice between a powerful cardio class, a dynamic full-body workout or an empowered yoga flow session. The event concludes with a sound bath experience and time to snack, socialize and shop with local vendors and wellness experts. The cost for non-members to sign up is $35.

FRIDAY, MARCH 7 FROM 6-9 P.M. | THE IVY HOUSE

Celebrate International Women’s Day Eve at this dinner featuring over 20 local women-led food vendors, including Flour Girl & Flame and Joy Ice Cream Social. Fill the rest of your evening with offerings like tarot card readings or make the night last forever with a flash tattoo! General admission tickets are $80 and can be bought online.

3. Women Under Attack Fight Back March

SATURDAY, MARCH 8 FROM 11 A.M.-3 P.M. | RED ARROW PARK

The Milwaukee International Women’s Day Coalition is hosting a rally and march in the streets at Red Arrow Park. Following the march, there will be a panel discussion, makers market and food trucks at Turner Hall. 

4. International Women’s Day Celebration at Lowcountry

SATURDAY, MARCH 8 FROM 2-9 P.M. | LOWCOUNTRY

Wear your best purple attire to commemorate International Women’s Day at Lowcountry’s seafood soiree. The event features live music from female artists, cocktails and seafood boils. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Women’s Fund Of Greater Milwaukee. 

5. International Women’s Day at AXE MKE

SATURDAY, MARCH 8 FROM 6-7:30 P.M. | AXE MKE

AXE MKE’s International Women’s Day event will feature axe throwing, a build-your-own old-fashioned bar and charcuterie cups. Ten dollars from every ticket supports Girls on the Run.

6. Red is For Woman Paint and Sip

SATURDAY, MARCH 8 FROM 6-8 P.M. | ZÓCALO FOOD PARK

Red is the theme for this paint and sip at Zócalo. The guided painting session will teach attendees how to paint red roses art, symbolic of resilience and women’s accomplishments. Attendees are encouraged to wear red in solidarity with women around the world. Spots for the class can be reserved online.

7. Ladies of Lupi & Iris

SATURDAY, MARCH 8 FROM 7-10 P.M. | LUPI & IRIS

The female chefs at Lupi & Iris are cooking up an inventive five-course meal, including dorade filet, duck breast, choux pastry and five paired wines. Get tickets for the event here.

8. Women in Wine

SUNDAY, MARCH 9 AND 23 FROM 2:30 P.M. | RAY’S WINE AND SPIRITS

Milwaukee Wine Academy is teaching a class at Ray’s Wine and Spirits that focuses on white and sparkling wines created by women winemakers. The class celebrates their contributions and creativity to the wine industry. Tickets are available online.

9. Chamber Music Milwaukee: Women Composers Matter

THURSDAY, MARCH 13 FROM 7:30-9:30 P.M. | UWM MUSIC BUILDING, RECITAL HALL 175 OR VIRTUAL

This chamber music program will showcase women composers, played by UWM faculty and guests. The free event is in person at UWM or available to stream online. 

10. Women’s History Month Market

SUNDAY, MARCH 16 FROM 11 A.M.-6 P.M. | CROSSROADS COLLECTIVE

Support local women-owned businesses and drink bottomless mimosas at this makers market, featuring a trinket swap and permanent jewelry. There will also be food and drink to buy from the vendors at Crossroads Collective. 

11. Women of The Pabst Mansion

SATURDAYS IN MARCH FROM 1:30-2:30 P.M. | THE PABST MANSION

The Pabst Mansion is hosting a tour every Saturday in March on the history of women in the Pabst family and their female servants, as well as the artists and gendered norms in late 19th-century America. Reserve a spot online.

12. Drop-in Tour: Celebrating Women Artists

SATURDAYS IN MARCH FROM 2-3 P.M. | MILWAUKEE ART MUSEUM

Drop in to the Milwaukee Art Museum on Saturdays this month to learn about work by women artists in the museum’s collection and how they push boundaries, reflect on the world and emulate the experiences of women and girls. This is included with admission to the museum.
