10 Things To Do in Milwaukee This Weekend: Dec. 3-5

Holiday markets, plays and even a Santa Hustle are headlining this packed weekend in Milwaukee.

1. Noel Market and Light Park

ALL WEEKEND | STATE FAIR PARK EXPO CENTER

This family-friendly event has a unique indoor illuminated winter wonderland featuring a million sparkling lights and festive light sculptures. There will also be the artisan market, live entertainment, holiday food and drinks, and best of all, Santa will be there for a Christmas photo-op.  

2. Christmas in the Ward

FRIDAY FROM 5:30 P.M.– 8:30 P.M. | CATALANO SQUARE  

Ring in the holiday season this year with a spectacular tree lighting ceremony in the heart of the Historic Third Ward. The celebration will bring delicious treats, Santa and friends, fireworks over the river, and live reindeer – you’ll believe it when you see it!  

3. Old World Christmas Market 

ALL WEEKEND | OSTHOFF RESORT, ELKHART LAKE

At this year’s 23rd annual Old World Christmas Market there will be the traditional German Christkindlesmarkt graciously kept in a heated tent. Inside will be an abundance of everything from Russian nesting dolls and hand-carved German nutcrackers to delectable German fare, such as hot dumplings, schnitzel, potato pancakes, apple strudel, and more.  

4. The Laramie Project

MULTIPLE SHOWTIMES | MILWAUKEE YOUTH ARTS CENTER 

The Laramie Project will showcase this weekend and tell a true story based around the life and tragic death of Matthew Shepard who is an openly gay college student. The story explores new depths of humanity and compassion. This production has strong language and is recommended for viewers over the age of 13.  

5. Winter Wonderland Vendor & Craft Show 

SATURDAY | FOUR POINTS SHERATON MILWAUKEE AIRPORT HOTEL

For festive handmade and non-handmade gifts, this event has a wide variety of booths to shop at. You and your family can even receive “swag bags” that will help with your shopping experience and a chance to win a pre-wrapped present if you show up early.  

6. Santa Rampage

SATURDAY AT 9:15 A.M. | CAFÉ CENTRAAL

Along with this year’s largest holiday-themed costume group bicycle ride for charity, the return of the Santa Rampage bier will be on tap at participating Lowland group restaurants. And for every bier sold at Café Hollander and Café Centraal a $1 donation will be made to the Wisconsin Bike Fed.  

7. Santa Hustle

SUNDAY | VETERANS PARK 

This weekend a beloved Milwaukee tradition returns. The 5K and Kids Dash at this year’s Santa Hustle celebration will have something for everyone. Participants will receive a festive sweatshirt, white beard, hat, and a finishers medal, and folks on the sidelines will have the pleasure of seeing hundreds of Santas dash around the park.  

8. Hover Craft Market

SUNDAY | PRITZLAFF BUILDING

This unique handmade shopping destination is back to celebrate its 12th year and it will be showcasing crafts from emerging artists, makers and more. What makes this event special is that the vendors come from Milwaukee’s own backyard with many local and small crafters.  

9. Macrame Workshop 

SUNDAY | THIRD SPACE BREWING 

The Third Space Brewing Co. Is holding a “take and make” macrame plant hanger workshop this weekend. While you are there, you’ll learn how to create the perfect seat for plants, and if you don’t have a plant already, Clover MKE will have plants available for purchase.  

10. Milwaukee Krampusnacht 

SUNDAY | BAVARIAN BIERHUAS, GLENDALE

To top the weekend off, this event isn’t your traditional holiday celebration but will include typical things like live music, a parade, and a holiday market. The Milwaukee Krampusnacht takes a more folklore approach to Christmas, so instead of Santa, they’ll have Krampus making a special appearance.
