Fast & Furious, the action-heavy fourth installment in the car fanatic franchise, is more like slow & lame with a plot that’s as empty as a flat tire. All you get here are elaborate chase scenes, flimsy dialogue, barely clothed girls, crashes and close-ups of car parts as fugitive Dominic Toretto (Diesel) and FBI agent Brian O’Conner (Walker) reunite to bust a nasty drug lord. If you’ve got a Y chromosome and you’re looking for a thrill ride watching souped-up cars perilously zoom around Los Angeles, hop in. Otherwise, here’s hoping the franchise’s creative forces break down like a bad engine before giving us Fast & Furious Five.
