“…the most crazy, fun, and terrifying horror movie in years.” Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly
“…is pure cheese. Goat cheese.” Kyle Smith, New York Post
Curses from a creepy one-eyed gypsy (Raver) could have made for a hokey horror film, but Raimi successfully delivers a truly terrifying movie that’s also intentionally funny. In order to get a promotion, the usually kind-hearted loan officer Christine (Lohman) rejects a loan extension and consequently gets cursed to the titular eternal damnation by the gypsy. Despite replacing Juno’s Ellen Page, the angelic Lohman makes for a relatable protagonist and Long, as her boyfriend, brings playful skepticism. While it’s a relatively simplistic plot that’s sometimes illogical, horror fans will eat up the constant genuine scares and gross-outs.
