The sizable Japanese menu is at once kind to lovers of raw fish and the theatrical hibachi. Spring for tempura (veggie and/or shrimp), sushi and sashimi, special maki rolls and any appetizer from the sushi bar. Wash them down with a cold Sapporo.
It feels like a standard neighborhood watering hole, but the massive bank of 30 taps behind the bar sets it apart. The selection includes standards from New Glarus and Lakefront, as well as oddities like Old Heathen bourbon barrel aged stout.
Lines form early at the hostess station on the weekends. If you don’t mind a backless stool, the bar is comfortable and manned by a team of fast, friendly servers.
