Sister of the MKE Street Zarletti, this place offers brick-oven pizzas. Try the arancini, house-made burrata cheese, seafood stew and braised short ribs.

Red walls and lots of colorful canvases populate the dining room of this casual Italian a block from UW-Milwaukee. Pastas are the better choices (from a menu that includes pizzas, shrimp scampi and chicken saltimbocca). Start with an app like breaded eggplant or baked goat cheese in tomato-basil sauce.
Visually, this place is relatively unchanged since opening in 1993. The old family photos and unpretentious, tight-fitting dining room make diners feel at home. It’s also helped that head chef Juan Urbieta has helmed this ship for so long. He keeps folks coming back for the fried calamari, brick-style chicken and hand-cut pappardelle with duck ragu.
