5 Delicious Milwaukee Desserts You Need to Taste

It’s no surprise that people drown their sorrow in sundaes and chocolate cakes. There’s nothing wrong with emotional eating, especially if it involves dessert.

1. Carrot Cake

BUCKLEY’S | 801 N. CASS ST., 414-277-1111

I eat carrot cake whenever I see it on a restaurant menu. The nutty, multi-layer version with cream cheese and buttercream frosting (yes, both!) at Buckley’s is epic. $9.

2. Tres Leches Cake

LA DAMA | 839 S. SECOND ST., 414-645-2606

This exquisite three-milk cake, served at La Dama, is soaked in Mexican eggnog syrup and topped with a whipped cream frosting and fresh strawberries. $10.

What’s Brew City’s best? We’ve picked 16 of our favorite Milwaukee craft beers for a March Madness-style tournament, but it’s up to you to pick the winner! Will it be bright and hoppy? Dark and malty? A zippy lager? Every one is worthy of the title; who will claim the sudsy crown?

3. Irish Car Bomb Cake

LA MERENDA | 125 E. NATIONAL AVE., 414-389-0125

La Merenda owner Peter Sandroni has said this chocolate-spice cake, soaked in Guinness stout and Baileys Irish Cream and topped with a spiked cream cheese frosting, has created such a following, it can never leave the menu of his small-plates restaurant. $6.

4. Peanut Butter Pie

THE DIPLOMAT | 815 E. BRADY ST., 414-800-5816

This diamond at The Diplomat elevates the typical peanut butter pie on a graham cracker crust with luxe buttercream, brûléed bananas and candied peanuts. $8.

5. Strawberry Schaum Torte

UNION HOUSE | S42 W31320 HIGHWAY 83, GENESEE DEPOT, 262-968-4281

The combo of a chewy-crisp meringue pedestal, strawberries, whipped ganache mousse and vanilla ice cream makes this old-school dessert swoon-worthy. Classic with a smidge of modern. $10.
