Post: Abandoned Dreams
This is a "good news" story, yet it is presented as though the facts are bad news. Milwaukee has only 5,000 empty houses compared to tens of thousands in other old cities. That is impressive to me. Yes, a lot of people bought houses in the 2000's who could not afford them. A lot of banks gave loans to people who could not afford them. That's a problem for them. But it's not a tragedy. It's just bad judgment. Tear the houses down and plant grass. Eventually someone will be able to buy the lot and build a house. Hopefully the person buying and the bank financing will have learned from this. Meanwhile, the rest of us have our own lives to live.
