Dr. Frederick Nelson, adjunct professor in UWM’s Geography Dept., will present a lecture, "Many Are Cold, But Few Are Frozen: Permafrost and Life in the North," on Jan. 31.

Prof. Nelson has spent more than 30 years researching the impact of global warming on permafrost in the Arctic.

He was a member of the working groups with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore.
