Be a Civil War soldier in camp!
- Single-day Sessions:
Thursday, Jul 18
Friday, Jul 26
Thursday, Aug 1
Mark the century and a half since the start of the Civil War by
learning more about what a soldier's life was like. You'll march and
make camp just like Civil War soldiers. Dress in a Civil War jacket and
hat, cook bacon and taste hardtack, learn a drill that soldiers did
using Civil War "dummy" guns, and even pick up some Civil War slang.
Follow along as a Civil War re-enactor takes you on a search for
Confederate soldiers hiding out at one of the farms at Old World
Wisconsin. Boys AND girls welcome! After camp, be sure to visit our Civil War Wisconsin event
Aug 1 - Sep 2, where we'll have different activities throughout the
month. You and your entire family might meet reenactors, visit a camp,
help out the Sanitary Commission and pack boxes for soldiers, listen to
music of the time, and lots more!
- Sessions run from 8:30 am to 3 pm
Grades: Entering grades 5–7
Cost: $45 per single-day session
