Andrews’ art can be found comfortably sandwiched in the company of Surrealism and Eroticism. It is the process between start (idea) and finish (art) that is the essence of his work. He starts with an abstract idea and raw materials but it is the intense dialogue that takes place between concept, material, and the process of fabrication and metal casting that gives his art meaning and substance. The end result of “art” is secondary, although the end result is not without reward. The transformation of hard cold metal into an object of sublime sensuality, beauty and permanence is there for all to experience. Andrews’ sculptures are rich with associations, emphasizing the erotic, yet they encourage and welcome further interpretation of the viewer.
