Moviegoers, the Wait is Over!
The 5th Annual Milwaukee Film Festival Kicks Off Tonight with the hit German buddy film, "Break Up Man (Shlussmacher)", followed by the Opening Night Party at Discovery World.

What better way to kick cap off the first full week of fall than to attend a screening (or two or three) over the weekend during the first leg of the 2013 Milwaukee Film Festival?

Starting today and continuing through Friday, Oct. 10, this year’s festival will showcase 104 features and 137 shorts  that’s a total of 241 films for those of you counting  over the next 15 screening-packed days.

All film screenings will take place at either the Downer Theatre (2589 N. Downer Ave.), the Oriental Theatre (2230 N. Farwell Ave.), or the Fox-Bay Cinema Grill (334 E. Silver Spring Dr., Whitefish Bay).

The Opening Night film for the 2013 Milwaukee Film Festival, is the German buddy comedy Break Up Man (Schlussmacher) which screens at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Oriental Theatre. Tickets are $20 for the public and $17 for Milwaukee Film members.

The film, a huge hit in its native country, is about a professional break-up artist named Paul (director/star Matthias Schweighöfer), who’s on the verge of becoming a partner at the firm he works for when he crosses paths with Toto (Milan Peschel), a neurotic of the highest order, whose significant other hires Paul to officially end their relationship. It’s just another job for Paul, until he forms an unexpected bond with Toto that’s brought about through some clever plot mechanics.

Following the screening, the Opening Night Party for the 5th edition of the festival will kick off at 8:30 p.m. at Discovery World at Pier Wisconsin (500 N. Harbor Drive). Tickets to attend the party are $35 for the public and $25 for Milwaukee Film members. Tickets to attend the film and the party are $50 for the public and $40 for Milwaukee Film members.

The festival’s opening night party has quickly become one of the most-anticipated social events of the year. The Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, stars of the documentary Brothers Hypnotic, playing as part of the festival’s Sound Vision line-up, will be one of seven acts performing live tonight at the party. All attendees will receive two complimentary free drinks courtesy of Bacardi and Grolsch; appetizers will be served; and there will be a prize raffle.

Admission to festival screenings other than the Opening and Closing Night films are $10 (with discounts for children, seniors and Milwaukee Film members).
