Heat Wave
Our proverbial bacon sizzled this summer. July 4 and 5 set records of 102 and 103, respectively, topping off a plateau of griddle-worthy suffering. The National Weather Service called the blast one of the worst since the 1930s, when Milwaukee caught the edge of the Dust Bowl drought. But another all-time record, 84 degrees on March 21, came well before the summer and was a sign of things to come.
