Fifty Years of Sandwiches
John's, the Tosa institution, hosts a B-day party with food, live music and the unmistakable sound of Harleys.

John’s Sandwich Shop is middle-aged! Yep, the Wauwatosa restaurant is turning 50 this year. To celebrate, the restaurant is having a bash this Saturday, Aug. 31. Besides serving the regular menu (which offers lots of breakfast choices and, well, sandwiches), they're grilling up some specials – specifically, blueberry-balsamic salmon-on-a-stick, fish tacos with orange-zest slaw and roasted pineapple-habanero sauce, and grilled veggie skewers with basil pesto. Bands will perform off and on (in the parking lot) throughout the day. T-shirts for sale, too. Riding a Harley? You'll get free parking. Hours: 6:30 a.m.-8 p.m. The  (8913 W. North Ave., 414-257-9347)
