Purple Door Ice Cream recently announced plans to move early next year – from the Clock Shadow Creamery building, at 138 W. Bruce St., a tad north to 205 S. Second St. A more crucial Purple development is the release of its absinthe ice cream, made with Great Lakes Distillery’s Amerique 1912 Absinthe. You can be among the first to try this flavor if you head to the aptly titled “Adult Ice Cream Social” this week at GLD’s tasting room (616 W. Virginia St.). How it works: Admission is free. You just pay $5 for the sundae -- made with either the new absinthe ice cream or Purple Door's whiskey flavor. Indulgence Chocolatiers (which recently opened its headquarters/tasting room at 211 S. Second St.) is supplying toppings like caramel sauce and crushed whiskey chocolate truffles. The Great Lakes people will also have absinthe-flavored whipped cream, boozy cherries, and nuts flavored with Roaring Dan's Rum. Raffles and games, too. That's Thursday, August 22, 6-8 p.m. At Great Lakes Distillery’s Tasting Room Patio. $5 per sundae ($3 for an additional scoop of ice cream).
