Emily Johnson Photography
Capturing the Story of Your Wedding
As a child, Emily Johnson always enjoyed taking pictures but her real passion was writing stories. Now as an adult, she tells the story of each couple’s wedding through the lense of her camera. I had the opportunity to work with Emily a few weeks back and ended up not only enjoying her photos, but her enthusiasm from start to finish of an event.

At the start of her career in photography, Emily began by shooting fine art botanical prints and working for a company that provided newborn photography services for most of the Milwaukee area hospitals. She started photographing weddings in 2004 and knew that she had found her true calling being able to combine her favorite things - art, storytelling and working with people.

On the wedding day, Emily’s team focuses on illustrating the story of the day and capturing all of the emotion between the bride and groom, their family and friends in a beautiful and artistic way. One of the great things about Emily’s approach is that she thinks about where her photos will ultimately be displayed. For example, Emily always wants to make sure the bride and groom come away with fine art images that will work perfectly for decorating their home while she tries to make the wedding party shots fun and modern and show the personality of the people closest to the couple. Since storytelling is the main focus, it has been a hallmark of her company to provide each couple with a beautiful, custom designed album. These albums are a fresh, modern take on the traditional wedding album with cover options ranging from metal to fabric to embossed leather. This will definitely not be an album that will just sit on your shelf and collect dust!

When I asked Emily what her favorite wedding moments were, her response was the ones full of the biggest emotion. The new trend is the “first look” which is a private moment between the bride and groom before the ceremony where they see each other for the first time. Emily loves these private rendezvous because it allows her and her team to capture genuine emotion. The anticipation and joy from those moments is palpable and gives the couple an amazing experience that they don't get when they wait until the bride is coming down the aisle to see each other for the first time on the wedding day.

Emily has an amazing team to work with including Jason Eiting, Jacqueline Sarauer, Justin Brammer or Chad Wilkinson. Emily brought Jacqueline along to the wedding I worked with her on, and I could see instantly that they had fun and respected each other’s work. In addition to engagement and wedding photography services Emily Johnson Photography also offers maternity, newborn/baby/children, family and senior portrait photography as well as coverage for bar/bat mitzvahs and other family events.
