This Friday at Summerfest, Radio Disney Live! will be on hand with Disney star Kelli Berglund. From 2-5 p.m., Berglund will be meeting fans, signing autographs and taking photos. Berglund plays a bionic superhero on Disney's "Lab Rats," where she and her family live underground and have never been out in the real world. Naturally, the series follows the struggles of everyday life, even for superheroes.
But what is it like to be a young Disney star? I was lucky enough to chat with Kelli Berglund over the phone about just that.
Fashionista: How long have you been in the entertainment business, and what do you think of it?
Kelli Berglund: I'm 17, and I've been acting since I was nine years old. It's a lot of work. You dedicate a lot of time to it, and there is a lot of time spent auditioning.
F: Do you attend public school?
KB: Yes, I've gone to public school until this year, now I do a school-at-work program that allows me to be on set and get my school work done.
F: What do your friends at school think of it all?
KB: They think it's really cool. You also find out who your real friends are. Sometimes people just want to be your friend because of being on a show, and then you'll find them not there when you really need them.
F: What's your favorite beauty product?
KB: I love makeup. One product that I take everywhere are these complexion enhancers from Benefit in Sun Beam and High Beam. You can use them on your eyelids, lips, cheeks, wherever. They're my favorite and they add a little glow when you need it.
F: Where do you draw your personal style from?
KB: I really like to create my own style by drawing inspiration from magazines and runway - and then really making them my own. I also look up to Demi Lovato. I loved her looks on "X-Factor;" she was so confident.
F: What are your dreams for your career?
KB: I love what I'm doing, but I would like to do more work "out of the box.". My dream is to work with Jennifer Lawrence. And I can't give away a lot of details, but I will be filming a movie this year and I can't wait to start.
Consider our interest piqued.
