DDW kicked off last night with a celebratory launch party at Ryan Braun’s Graffito in the Historic Third Ward. It gave us a taste of what to expect this week, and the forecast is looking good. Chefs, servers and bartenders are more than ready for this special week of Milwaukee dining, and so are our appetites.
But keep in mind it’s already Thursday and the weekend is coming up fast. We don’t want Friday and Saturday to sneak up on you unprepared, so we thought we’d save you some time and pick out a few DDW restaurants ideal for a ladies or guys night out on the town.
For the ladies:
Indulge, 708 N. Milwaukee St.
This classy urban wine room, featuring over 300 different wines (60 available by glass), artisan cheeses, meats, chocolates and truffles, is a great choice for a girls’ night out. Its $20 DDW dinner menu includes your choice of a cheese plate appetizer, a sandwich entrée and either white chocolate cheesecake or a raspberry chocolate ganache tart for dessert.
Louise’s, 801 N. Jefferson St.
Rock Bottom Brewery, 740 N. Plankinton Ave.
This California-style Italian restaurant is a fun, casual place to enjoy a meal with friends. Chose from mozzarella caprese or bruschetta as an appetizer; asparagus mushroom ravioli, chicken piccata or blackened salmon for your entrée; and homemade tiramisu or gelato for dessert. This is a $38 meal, but DDW is bringing it to you for only $20.
If you’re looking for a laid-back environment to enjoy some upscale comfort food and a couple cocktails with the girls, we recommend heading to Rock Bottom. Its $20 DDW dinner menu lets you pick from southwest egg rolls or a side Caesar salad to start; salmon, sirloin or lobster and shrimp tacos as an entrée; and carrot cake or cinnamon-sugar donut holes with caramel dipping sauce for dessert. Classy donut holes? We think yes.
For the fellas:
Mo’s Irish Pub, 142 W. Wisconsin Ave.
Mo’s is not only a great place to grab a beer with the guys, but it also offers a delicious $20 dinner. Start the night off with garlic cheese fries or a Reuben; then chose from a burger, corned beef and cabbage or Mo’s Shepherd’s Pie (beef, potatoes, carrots, peas and leeks in a yummy gravy, topped with garlic mashed potatoes); and finish the meal with a chocolate chip cookie á la mode or a slice of Bailey’s cheesecake.
Trinity Three Irish Pubs, 125 E. Juneau St.

In keeping with the pub theme, we also recommend Trinity as a place where the guys can kick back and relax during DDW. Share their Trinity sliders; dig into marinated steak tips, grilled salmon glazed with Irish whisky or roasted garlic and chicken pasta; and enjoy a slice of red velvet cake or apple crisp for dessert.
Libiamo Restaurant, 221 W. Galena St.
In case you’re not feeling the pub scene and want more of a restaurant feel, we added Libiamo to our list of DDW destinations ideal for a guys’ night out. The real draw to this place are the hearty entrées: veal and portabella-filled ravioli, a half rack of lamb, pan-seared salmon and pasta and Sicilian meat loaf. Start off with toasted cheese ravioli, bruchetta or caprese salad, and finish the meal strong with cannoli, chocolate mousse or limoncello. All this for $20 – we can’t think of a better way to spend the weekend.
