Milwaukee is for 'Game of Thrones' Lovers
We're getting a reputation.
The Milwaukee Film Fest, which will run from Sept. 25-Oct. 9 this year, announced today that they're partnering with HBO to premiere The Normal Heart, a film set in 1980s New York during the onset of the HIV and AIDS crisis.
But buried three paragraphs into the release is a statement from Mike Hopper, HBO's Director of Corporate Affairs, who says, “Milwaukee has been
identified as one of the top markets for “Game of Thrones” viewership, so we
felt it was only logical to bring a film like The Normal Heart to a
market with a proven following." A natural conclusion, we think.
He continues: “We are excited to be
partnering with Milwaukee Film for the Wisconsin premiere and look forward to a
continued relationship to feature our programming in front of a savvy film
community.” (Ed note: emphasis ours)
Now that is high praise.
The Normal Heart, which is directed by Ryan Murphy, a co-creator of Fox's "Glee," will have its local debut on May 21 at the Landmark Oriental Theatre. Check out the trailer below:
