Crazy Water (839 S. Second St.) is a Walker’s Point anchor, a restaurant chef-owner Peggy Magister has run for 11 years. Now she’s ready to pull the trigger on restaurant No. 2. In late summer, Magister hopes to open AP Bar and Kitchen ( 814 S. Second St., last known as the Fifth Ward Pub & Grill). Magister will run the kitchen, while her nephew, Justin Anthony, runs the front of the house. (Anthony comes from a GM position at Locanda in San Francisco.) Back in 2002, Magister described the cuisine at Crazy Water as "sophisticated" bar food. Along with its rustic cuisine meant for sharing, AP (which stands for “All Purpose”) will offer craft cocktails and specialize in French and Italian wines. Ingredients will be locally sourced. The menu will include pork buns, a lobster roll and a burger, as well as entrees. More on the menu when Magister has it nailed down. The lease is signed, and the partners are focusing on making cosmetic changes to the interior.
