It’s summer menu time. Yeah! Here I forgot it was even spring. But the weather’s always better on the West Side. Take Juniper 61, where it is summer – sort of. The restaurant – whose tempura green beans appetizer is featured in Mil Mag’s May cover, “50 Must Eat Dishes” – is rolling out its summer menu today. New small plates include kale and berry salad with ricotta salata; Low Country scallops and grits; yucca fritters with red pepper coulis and chimichurri sauce; chile- and cocoa-braised beef cheek; and a quesadilla with apple-braised pork shoulder, Brie, green apple, and caramelized onions ($4-$15). The menu also has a few new large plates: fried chicken featuring three brined and battered drumsticks and chive-parsnip potato mash ($14); summer vegetable and chickpea ragout ($14); pasta verde ($13); and a salad with house-made paneer, mango and butter naan ($12). Hours: Mon-Thurs 11 a.m.-10 p.m.; Fri-Sat 11 a.m.-11 p.m.; Sun 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Note to outdoor dining lovers: The patio is open for the season. (6030 W. North Ave., 414-727-6161)
